South Australia has launched an expanded grid-forming inverter program aimed at strengthening network stability as variable renewable generation grows.
The package focuses on utility-scale projects that can provide fast frequency support and synthetic inertia without relying on traditional synchronous generation.
System operators said the approach will improve resilience during disturbances and support more flexible dispatch across the state.
